About Decker, Hankins, Hymer, Jackson, Mueller and Thomas Lines
Uncovering our roots has spanned three recent generations. Both of my parents
had aunts who began gathering information many years ago. When my parents
retired, they enjoyed trips to the county courthouses and local cemeteries in
search of ancestors. Although several years from retirement, my sister and I
have now taken on the challenge.
Working our way back through the family's history continues to be an adventure
providing new insight into the human spirit. We've discovered pioneers and
immigrants, dandies and rogues, horse traders and teachers, as well as paupers
and patriots. As we've documented statistics we've learned their stories...
tales that delight, sadden, and inspire. Occasionally we've been surprised to
discover "the farm" was really the alms house or how "illegitimate" is spelled
in German. Ultimately, the stories serve to make those who have come before
us seem more real... always leaving us wanting to know more.
The information contained on this website is a work in progress and is
regularly updated as we add, edit and correct information that provides more
detail including source information. As with most current research methods,
much of the information comes from on-line sources and although interesting,
isn't always accurate or documented and sometimes requires a leap of faith to
make the family connection. We have noted information that has been verified,
typically through a copy of birth, death or marriage certificate, government
records or other identified source.
Please check out the site and sign the guestbook. We welcome your feedback as
well as any data that can make our website more accurate and/or complete.
Note: Direct line ancestors are identified with surname in capital letters.
